Step cooking
- We take apples (1 kg), peel and core, cut into medium-sized cubes. The best apple variety for making the pie is Antonovka, when choosing, you need to pay attention to the color, it will be bright green, and elasticity. Apples should not be sluggish, otherwise during cooking they will give a lot of juice, thereby the cake will be wet.
- We lay the sliced apples in a deep bowl, pour them with half lemon juice, melted butter (30 g), carefully, but gently mix with a tablespoon.
- Add the bulk products to the contents in a deep bowl: sugar (150 g), flour (30 g), starch (30 g), cinnamon (1/2 tsp), nutmeg (1/3 tsp) and mix well so that the flour and starch are evenly distributed over the sliced apple slices.
- Take a yeast-free puff pastry (250 g), roll it on a cutting board, previously sprinkled with flour. We roll out the dough taking into account the size of the selected baking dish, adding about 1.5 centimeters by volume.
- With melted butter (20 g), grease the baking dish with a silicone brush, carefully spread the rolled dough into it, pressing it with your hands so that the dough lies evenly and does not tear, the edges of the dough will hang down 1.5 centimeters.
- Prepared apples are laid out in a baking dish on top of the dough, evenly distributed, thereby filling the empty space.
- We take a chopping board, sprinkle it with flour, put on it the second half of puff yeast-free dough (250 g), roll it into a rectangle and cut it into 12 equal strips with a width of 2 centimeters. Pay attention to the length of the strips, they should be the same size as the baking dish, with a margin of 1.5 centimeters.
- Cut the strips (12 pcs.) And decorate the apple pie, twisting them in the form of a basket in a checkerboard pattern.
- Cut the edges of the dough with kitchen scissors, leaving 1 centimeter at the edges. We twist the hanging dough in a circle to the edge, we get a rope of dough.
- Grease the top of the pie with melted butter.
- Preheat the oven to 180 ° C, put a pie in it, bake for 25 minutes.
- We take out the pie, sprinkle it with sugar (1 tbsp. L.), Put it back in the oven, continue to bake another 10 minutes. Sugar is needed so that the top of the cake is caramelized, as a result, it will be golden. We take out the finished cake from the oven, let it cool completely.
