Kitchen appliances and utensils:
- frying pan;
- a frying pan or pan with a thick bottom for stewing;
- cutting board;
- knife.
Ingredients
fresh white cabbage | 700 g |
tomato paste | 2 tbsp. l |
beef sausages | 300 g |
onion | 100 g |
refined vegetable oil | for frying |
water | 50 ml |
salt, pepper, bay leaf | taste |
Step cooking
- Peel the onion, wash and finely chop into a cube or straw.
- Remove the top leaves from the cabbage, wash and chop as finely as possible. To do this, use a special shredder or knife with a thin blade.
- To extinguish, you need to choose a pan or pan with a thick bottom, you can take a cast-iron cauldron. Pour a small amount of vegetable oil into the selected stewing container, heat well and send the onion. Fry the onions over medium heat until transparent. Try not to pour too much oil so as not to overdo it. If necessary, better add the right amount of vegetable oil. Otherwise, the dish will turn out to be very greasy, and the whole taste will go bad.
- Next, add cabbage to the onion, pour in a little water, mix well and cover. Stew cabbage with onions for about 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, add tomato paste, bay leaf, salt, pepper and other spices to your content at your discretion. Mix everything well so that the tomato paste is evenly distributed, cover and simmer until cooked. If you do not like tomato paste, you can replace it with sour cream or fat cream.
- In the meantime, peel the sausages from the packaging film and cut into slices, approximately 1 - 1.5 cm thick.
- Preheat another pan, add no more than 1 tbsp. tablespoons of vegetable oil and pour out the sausages so that they fit in one layer. Fry over medium heat until golden brown.
- Since the cabbage is almost ready, remove the lid, remove the bay leaf and send the fried sausages to the total mass. Mix well, turn off the heat and remove the lid.
- Before serving, you can decorate with chopped fresh herbs.
Serve stewed cabbage with sausages can be as an independent dish, or as a complement to the main one. It goes well with potato dishes. For example, you can make mashed potatoes, fried potatoes or, in season, boil young potatoes. You can also serve such stewed cabbage to porridge from pearl barley, rice, or to boiled pasta. In summer, you can serve this dish with a light vegetable salad and a crust of bread. Another such dish can be used as a filling for a pie.
