Ingredients
Product | amount |
Cod | 1,5 kg |
Dry yeast | 9 g |
Pure water | 250 g |
Beer | 150 g |
Wheat flour | 300 g |
Salt | taste |
Granulated sugar | 2-3 g |
Vegetable oil | 500 grams |
Step cooking
- We wash 1.5 kg of cod and separate the fillet from the ridge and bones. The resulting cod filet is checked for bones. If there are bones, then we take them out with tweezers.
- Carefully remove the skin from the fish, if any.
- Cut the cod fillet into small pieces.
- In a deep, large container, mix 150 grams of beer, 250 grams of clean water at room temperature, 2-3 grams of granulated sugar and 9 grams of dry yeast. Mix all the ingredients well.
- Sift 150 grams of wheat flour through a sieve into a separate container and add salt to taste to it. Add the flour parts in a bowl with yeast and mix so that there are no lumps.
- Cover the bowl with cling film and leave for at least one hour.
- After an hour, the yeast intensified, the batter rose and increased in volume.
- We put a small saucepan or frying pan with high sides on the stove and pour 500 grams of vegetable oil into it. Pour 50 grams of wheat flour into a deep bowl and roll all the pieces of our cod in it.
- Then dip the whole fish in batter and gently lower it into the hot vegetable oil. Do not immediately put a lot of fish in oil, otherwise the pieces will stick together.
- Fry cod until golden brown on all sides.
- We put the finished fish on a paper towel to stack excess fat.
- We shift the cod to a common plate or lay out portionwise, and serve.
Decoration methods and serving options
- As a side dish for such a fish, mashed potatoes with garlic and finely chopped fresh herbs are ideal.
- You can replace potatoes with buckwheat or rice with vegetables.
- Also, cod in batter will be ideally combined with a salad of fresh or baked vegetables.
- If you want to serve the fish on a common dish, then first put a few fresh lettuce on it, and sprinkle the cod itself with chopped green onions or parsley. This will greatly decorate your dish.
- It is not recommended to serve fish in combination with fried or french fries. Otherwise, your meal will be too fat.
- This dish will be elegantly combined with various sauces. For example, garlic, sour cream or tomato. Spicy sauces can also emphasize the taste.
- Such a fish can play the role of an excellent beer snack, and replace the usual chips and crackers.
