Kitchen appliances and utensils: Cutting board, knife, two plates (one for fish, the other for chopped vegetables), grater, spatula, slow cooker.

Step cooking
Mackerel Preparation
- We clean fresh mackerel. If you had it frozen, then defrost it at room temperature. With a knife, cut off the head and tail.
- We remove the fins, they can be cut with scissors. Gutting the insides. Rinse well under running water. With the second fish we do the same.
- We cut into portions, each fish into 3 - 4 parts. Put the pieces in a plate.
- Sprinkle fish with 1 tsp. salt. On top rolls 1/3 tsp. ground black pepper. Sprinkle optionally with chopped bay leaves.
- Cut 1/3 of the lemon, cut it into slices, put on a mackerel.
- We smear all the pieces of fish with the ingredients that were sprinkled, rub it. Smear with lemon so that the juice is absorbed if possible. We leave the fish to marinate while we clean, cut, fry the vegetables.
Vegetable preparation
- Shred on a coarse grater one large carrot.
- Finely chop one large onion.
- Dice the tomato in the same way, having previously cut the leg. Now we put everything in a slow cooker.
Multicooking
- Pour on the bottom of the multicooker 2 tbsp. l olive oil so that the onions and carrots are slightly fried.
- Press the “start” button and wait for the signal that the saucepan has already warmed up. After the signal, we send the onions and carrots at the same time.
- Fry it all together for about 4 minutes, do not forget to mix. Onions and carrots became soft, now add chopped tomato (if there is no tomato, you can add tomato paste diluted with water). Mix well together. The result was a pillow of vegetables for fish. Turn off the frying mode. We spread the pieces of mackerel on top of the vegetable pillow.
- Close the lid. We put on the function "baking" for 20 minutes. You cannot stew fish for a long time, because it will fall apart.
- We get it, put it on a plate. It turned out a dish with a vegetable side dish.
Cooking options
- Mackerel can be stewed with any vegetables.
- You can use purchased frozen vegetables, assorted.
- If you add sour cream, the mackerel will turn into sour cream gravy.
- Potatoes, sliced in circles and sprinkled with herbs.
- Since mackerel is a fatty fish, from the side dish more rice is suitable for it, it just absorbs excess fat.
- If you are going to cook potatoes and rice with fish in a slow cooker, you need to add liquid: water, cream or milk.
- Side dishes can be prepared to your taste and separately from the slow cooker.
