Step cooking
- Wash the pomegranate, disassemble it into grains, measure the required amount (100 g). Remove the canned pineapple from the syrup and squeeze slightly. If the pineapple rings - cut into cubes. For a salad, you will need almost the entire contents of a jar weighing 560-580 g (the mass of the main product is 340 g). Put 300 g of shrimp in a saucepan, add water to cover seafood (about 1 liter). Bring to a boil under the lid, add 1 tsp. salt and cook for 2 minutes, then drain the water.
- Dismantle Chinese cabbage on the leaves, rinse and chop each (400 g).
- Prepare salad dressing. Mix 3 tbsp. l sour cream, 1 tbsp. l olive oil, 1 tsp granular mustard and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Mix well, you can lightly beat with a whisk or a mixer.
- Put cooled shrimps, Peking cabbage, pomegranate seeds and pineapple cubes in a salad bowl, pour over the dressing and mix.
- Garnish with pomegranate seeds and serve. Enjoy your meal!
Useful Tips
- When choosing a pomegranate, pay attention to the peel: in a ripe fruit, it is dry and seems to fit grains.
- Do not buy fruits with brown spots, cracks and dents.
- To quickly select pomegranate seeds, make a circular incision on the peel, backing 2-3 cm from the rest of the cup, carefully remove this part. Cut along the line of growth of the white partitions over the entire peel from top to bottom. Gently divide the fruit into “petals” and select the grains. You can turn a pomegranate thus unfolded over a deep bowl and knock well on the entire surface of the peel with a knife handle or spoon - the grains will fall into the bowl.
- When buying Beijing cabbage, pay attention to the packaging: the presence of condensation in it indicates that the cabbage is starting to deteriorate.
- Peking cabbage has practically no characteristic aroma, so any strong odor not characteristic of leafy vegetables should alert you.
- It is better to choose not boiled-frozen, but frozen shrimp. They need to be thawed on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator and only then boiled.
- Shrimps with a tail bent to the abdomen are considered to be qualitative.
- If you buy shrimp for salad, it is better to choose peeled, and if they are served as an independent dish and just eat boiled - choose unpeeled.
