Step cooking
- Take the mackerel (1 piece) and thaw it slightly. Cut the fish: cut off the head and tail, open the belly and take out the entrails. Make a deep incision along the entire ridge along the back and divide the carcass into 2 parts of the fillet. Remove the skin from each half of the fillet.
- Cut the resulting fish fillet in portions and transfer them to a plate.
- Peel 1/4 of the onion and cut it into small cubes as small as possible.
- Take two bowls and divide the eggs (2 pieces) into yolks and squirrels. This is necessary to make the batter more airy.
- To the yolks add mayonnaise (100 grams) and salt to taste. Mix all the ingredients with a fork, whisking slightly. Add the chopped onion to the mixture and mix everything again.
- Add flour (2 tablespoons) here and beat the batter with a fork until the consistency of thick sour cream, gradually adding small portions of water.
- Protein slightly add salt and beat with a mixer until stable peaks. Transfer the whipped proteins to the previously prepared batter and gently mix them into the mixture. Do it right, interfering in one direction.
- Place the pan on the stove and heat it. Add odorless vegetable oil to the preheated skillet so that when frying it covers half the fish pieces. Heat the oil well.
- Take the slices of prepared mackerel with your hands and dip them fully into the cooked batter. Put the pieces in the pan so that they do not touch each other.
- Fry the fish until cooked, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove the fish from the pan on a plate lined with a paper towel or several napkins so that they absorb excess oil. Fry the remaining pieces of fish in the same way.
Decoration methods and serving options
Cover a large plate or dish with green lettuce leaves and lay out the warm fish in the dough. Garnish the dish with lemon slices. Serve mashed potatoes with herbs or boiled rice. The fish slices fried in the dough also go well with a salad of fresh vegetables. Tartar sauce, mayonnaise and garlic sauce are also suitable for fish.
