Step cooking
- At the beginning of the preparation of any dish, including rice and pumpkin porridge, you need to perform the simplest job - prepare all the necessary ingredients. The pumpkin needs to be washed and cut in half, to take out the core with seeds. Cut into slices to make it easier to peel and then cut the peel with a thin layer. The softer and sweeter the pulp, the better!
- Cut the pulp of pumpkin into small pieces, approximately 2 × 2 in size. It's okay if the pieces are not the same or of a different size - anyway they will practically dissolve in the porridge.
- Put in a pan with a thick bottom (you can in the cauldron) sliced pumpkin. Pour cold water.
- Put on the hob and bring to a boil. After boiling, make the fire quieter and cook under a closed lid for about 15 minutes. During this time, the pumpkin will become softer.
- Add cold milk and bring to a boil. Stir and make sure that it does not "run away." Make sure that there is water at the bottom of the pan before pouring milk - this will prevent the milk from burning.
- When milk with pumpkin boils, add sugar and salt to the pan and mix everything thoroughly. It is best to take pieces of pumpkin with a spoon (or a pestle for mashed potatoes).
- Pour rice into a bowl or colander and rinse well under cold water. Rinse until the water becomes clear, transparent, without white “flour”. Pour rice into the pumpkin mass. Rice is best not mixed, but carefully and evenly distributed over the surface. These simple manipulations will help porridge not burn to the walls of the pan.
- Close the lid and cook over very low heat for about 20 minutes.
- At the end, add one tablespoon of honey and 30 g of butter. To prevent very carefully and turn off the fire. Now this delicious porridge needs to be given time to brew. We tolerate and do not try for 30 minutes.
- That's all: rice-pumpkin porridge in milk is ready. Put it on a plate with a small piece of butter and treat your family.
