Ingredients
- Dogwood - 1 kg
- Sugar - 1 kg
- Water - 200 ml
Step cooking
- Put 1 kg of sugar in a saucepan and pour 200 ml of water.
- Set the pot on the fire and cook the syrup, stirring constantly. Sugar will not be able to dissolve completely, as there is very little water.
- Remove the pan from the heat and pour 1 kg of dogwood into the syrup. Gently mix, cover and leave for 2 hours so that the berries let the juice.
- Set the pan to the slowest fire and, constantly stirring, we make sure that the sugar is completely dissolved in the liquid.
- After 15-20 minutes, when the sugar dissolves, add a little fire and remove the foam that actively appears on the surface with a slotted spoon.
- When there is no foam left, we check the jam for readiness. To do this, drop a drop of syrup on a plate. If after cooling the drop does not spread, the jam is ready, if it spreads, it is necessary to boil again.
- We pack the finished jam in sterilized jars and roll up.
Useful Tips
- In order to prevent the berries from cracking during cooking, you can pre-soak them in water for the night.
- If the berries are very acidic, you can take more sugar.
