Step cooking
- Rinse one medium sized pumpkin thoroughly under running water and pat dry with paper towels. Then cut the pumpkin in half and remove the seeds, then peel the pumpkin. Cut the peeled pumpkin into small pieces.
- Place the chopped pumpkin in the bowl of the multicooker and fill it with 2/3 of the water. Do not fill the pumpkin completely with water, because in this case the mashed potatoes will turn out liquid. Close the lid of the multicooker, turn it on and select the “Extinguishing” mode for 1 hour. If you do not have a slow cooker, you can cook mashed potatoes in a saucepan under a lid over low heat.
- When ready, take out the multicooker bowl and drain all the liquid from the pumpkin. Salt pumpkin to taste. Then pour 100 g of cream into the bowl and mix everything with a spoon.
- Using a submersible blender, thoroughly mash the pumpkin in mashed potatoes without lumps. You will get a beautiful homogeneous mass. When serving, you can decorate mashed potatoes with a sprig of fresh herbs to your taste.
For delicious mashed potatoes, it is important to choose the right pumpkin. You can use any variety of it. The most important point - the pumpkin should be ripe. This is indicated by ripened, thick seeds. Also pay attention to the tail - it must be dry. By size, it is best to choose medium pumpkins, up to 4 kg.
The peel of the pumpkin should be intact, without visible damage and signs of spoiled product. To please yourself with nutritious pumpkin puree in any season, cut the fresh pumpkin into medium slices and freeze for future use. Mashed potatoes from it will turn out just as tasty.
Optionally, you can add and saturate the puree with spicy spices and other vegetables to your liking. For example, add onions, garlic, a little black pepper and paprika. Thus, mashed potatoes will turn out more piquant.
You can serve aromatic pumpkin puree as an independent dish or as a full-fledged garnish for any meat and fish dishes.
