Step cooking
Before preparing this dish, it is worth considering one important point. Before cooking, lentils are usually soaked. Moreover, if it is a brown lentil, then soak it, as a rule, for at least 12 hours.
A red and green is usually enough just to rinse thoroughly before cooking. But in order to get the maximum benefit from this product, still do not be too lazy to soak the red lentils at least half an hour before cooking.
Thanks to this, the process of digesting the dish will become easier and many useful elements will be absorbed. Then just drain the water in which the lentils were standing, and you can start preparing the mashed potatoes.
- Rinse well with 70 g of red lentils. Fill it with 200 ml of water and set to boil. If desired, you can add a sprig of rosemary during the cooking process. This will add lentils a special flavor and aroma. It is already better to salt it at the very end or in the process of mashed potatoes.
- Lentils cook very fast. So after 15 minutes you can remove the pan from the heat. Grind 2 cloves of garlic and add to lentils. Salt to your taste, add your favorite spices.
- Now beat everything with a blender or manually using a potato planter.
- Finely chop the greens. It can be any fresh herbs (basil, parsley, dill, etc.).
- Mix mashed potatoes with herbs, add 2 tbsp. l olive oil and mix again.
That's the whole cooking process. Very fast and easy. But this dish can provide you with energy for several hours. And even if you use it without additives (in the form of meat or fish dishes).
In particular, it will be useful before training in the gym or any other type of physical activity. Here's another little secret to making lentil puree: when chopping the mashed potatoes, you can add other cooked or baked vegetables (bell pepper, eggplant, carrots).
And among the spices with lentils, basil, turmeric, paprika, and cumin are most combined. Lentil puree will be an excellent alternative to a side dish of boiled rice, pasta or potatoes.
