Step cooking
- Pour 100 ml of brine into a deep bowl. You can use any brine to prepare the crumpets; in this recipe, cucumber is used.
- Add a pinch of salt and 1/2 tsp to the brine. soda. All mix a little tablespoon. When stirring, a foam should appear and hiss is present.
- In a bowl with brine, pour 4 tbsp. l sugar, mixing the ingredients a little.
- Then pour in 15 ml of vegetable oil, mixing the ingredients a little.
- Add 1 chicken egg to the resulting mixture and mix everything actively until smooth. You do not need to whip everything.
- Pre-sift 350 g of wheat flour and portionwise add to a bowl with brine. After each addition, mix the products and add all the flour.
- First, knead the dough with a spoon, and when it becomes thick, we continue to work with our hands. The dough for crumpets should turn out soft and elastic. We shift the dough onto the table, lightly sprinkled with flour, and cover with a plastic bowl on top. Leave it to stand for 20 minutes.
- From the finished dough we form a small cake, sprinkling it on both sides with a small amount of flour.
- Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough. Its thickness should be approximately 3-4 mm.
- From dough we cut out blanks for crumpets using cookie cutters. You can make all the donuts of different shapes or the same. In this recipe, donuts in the form of stars are prepared. We lay the billets on a table sprinkled with flour.
- When there is no space left on the test, we crush it again and roll it into a new layer, forming more crumpets.
- We put the pan on the stove, pouring about 150-170 ml of vegetable oil into it. Heat the oil over medium heat. In a heated frying pan, spread the crumpets and fry over medium heat. On each side it is required to fry for about 2-3 minutes, until a golden hue appears.
- Put the fried crumpets in the pan. Hot donuts can be removed from the pan using kitchen tongs so as not to collect a lot of oil.
- In a saucepan, sprinkle the finished cakes with sugar and lemon flavor. You can also sprinkle them with powdered sugar or a mixture of regular and vanilla sugar. Sprinkle, close the pan with a lid and shake it a little.
- The donuts sprinkled with sugar with lemon flavor are transferred to a flat plate and served with tea. Ready-made crumpets are airy and sweet.
