Step cooking
Preparatory stage
- Defrost catfish steaks and pat with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a glass. Catfish is a fish that loses its shape when cooked. To avoid this, pour steaks with lemon juice from half a lemon. Besides the fact that lemon juice is a marinade, it does not allow catfish to fall apart. Leave the catfish in this marinade for a few minutes. We clean and wash 2-3 cloves of garlic and 3 onions.
Marinade preparation
- Pour 200 g of sour cream into a bowl. Squeeze the garlic through the press (the amount of garlic can be changed at your discretion). Add a couple of tablespoons of soy sauce.
- Add black pepper, salt and dried garlic to taste. Mix with a spoon and the marinade is ready.
Steak roasting
- Cut the onion into half rings (if the onion is small, oblong, then you can cut into rings). We cover the baking sheet with baking paper and put the onion on it. Thus, we get a kind of pillow for steaks. It is not only useful, but also convenient. In addition, onion adds flavor.
- We put the fish in a bowl with marinade so that it is marinated for several minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven without convection to 230 degrees. We lay out the pieces of fish in the marinade on an onion pad. The remains of the marinade are poured on top.
- To create a crisp, sprinkle steaks with breadcrumbs (2-3 tbsp. L.). The dish is sent to the oven for 40 minutes.
Ways of decorating and serving
- It is very important to choose the right side dish, which will not only complement the fish, but also emphasize its taste.
- It goes well with fish: salad, broccoli, tomatoes (pickled or fresh), stewed spinach or sorrel.
- You can also use fruits: apple, pineapple, grapefruit, orange.
The most suitable side dishes for catfish steak are:
- Carrots stewed with green peas and prunes.
- Rice noodles with steamed vegetables (broccoli, asparagus beans and a few slices of pumpkin).
- Beans stewed in tomato.
- Grilled eggplant with onions.
- Stewed zucchini with bell peppers and tomatoes.
- Baked potatoes in the oven with aromatic seasonings and herbs.
- Mushrooms fried with onions or baked in the oven with sour cream.
Better than any garnish with fish is combined vegetable or fruit and vegetable salads. Suitable for this: tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, lettuce, onions, pineapples, oranges, nuts.
