- We rinse 0.5 cups of pearl barley under running water several times until the water becomes clear when draining. Pour into the pan 2 cups of water in a ratio of 1: 4 (1 part cereal and 4 parts water). We put the pot with water on the fire, bring to a boil.
- Pour washed pearl barley into it, cover with a lid not tightly.
- Add 0.5 tsp. salt. Cook the cereal on very low heat until half cooked.
Cooking chicken with vegetables
- Pour 50 ml of water into the pan. Spread 2 chicken thighs.
- Salt on one side and on the other hand (about 1 tsp. Salt on 2 thighs). Periodically turn the meat so that it is evenly stewed from 2 sides. Cover the pan with a lid, turn down the heat to a minimum.
- Stew for 10 minutes. During this time, the chicken will empty its juice. We cut 2 onions not very finely, it is possible in half rings, it is possible less. Put it in the pan to the chicken.
- Stew the onions while we chop the carrots. Do not cover with a lid. Cut 1 carrot into cubes or straws. We send to the chicken, distribute between pieces of meat so that it also stews in broth. If necessary, add salt. Add a little dried herbs, about 0.5 tsp. Cover, simmer for 3 minutes.
Collect the dish
- We remove from the fire undercooked groats. We transfer the pearl barley with water to the pan, distributing it evenly between pieces of meat. In order for the meat not to be digested, we begin to cook it later than cereals. Or you can pre-cook chicken, onions and carrots without having to touch them slightly. Add 1/3 tsp. ground black pepper.
- Cover, simmer over very low heat for 15 to 20 minutes. Open the lid and add 20 g of butter.
- Again, cover the pan with a lid, leave to insist 10 - 15 minutes.

The food was served at the ceremonial table, and it had the name "Royal". Its grains outwardly resembled pearls - these were the emperors' favorite jewelry.
