Step cooking
- We prepare the ingredients. To start, we wash the barley to clear water. Leave the pearl barley in cold water to soak for about 1-1.5 hours.
- When the cereal swells, rinse it again and drain the water. We put a pot with a deep bottom on the stove. You can use a cauldron. Pour barley in a saucepan and stir over medium heat to dry for about 3-5 minutes, until it is completely dry and browned.
- We take water and fill it with barley. Leave the cereals to cook for 30 minutes. Do not forget to salt the water and cover the pan with a lid.
- At this time, we wash the mushrooms, dry them and cut into half rings.
- When the water with the cereal boils, cook it until tender over low heat. We peel the onion and cut into small cubes or half rings. We put the pan and heat it. Add vegetable oil and let it warm.
- Put the onion in the pan and fry it until transparent, stirring occasionally. Do not forget to periodically stir the pearl barley.
- Then add the mushrooms to the pan and fry everything together, mix well. Salt and pepper mushrooms with onions to taste. Add thyme and nutmeg, mix well. Pour the cream of mushrooms and onions, leave for 5 minutes to stew under the lid.
- Remove the lid from the pan - the mushrooms are ready. Immediately check the barley. If the barley is ready, we send the mushrooms with cream to it. Mix all the ingredients well. You can serve it to the table! Enjoy your meal!
