Ingredients
Peeled walnuts | 300 g |
Granulated sugar | 600 g |
Eggs | 1-2 pcs. |
Ground cinnamon | 1 tsp |
Ground cloves and cardamom | ¼ tsp |
Water for syrup | 300 ml |
Puff pastry | 1 kg |
Honey | 4-5 Art. l |
Step cooking
- We chop and peel the walnuts. You can chop nuts in a blender, you can use a knife.
- Put the nuts in a bowl and add 300 grams of granulated sugar to it. We also add one teaspoon of ground cinnamon, a small pinch of ground cloves and cardamom.
- Break one large or two small eggs into a bowl. Mix well with a spoon.
- Add a little flour to the working surface and spread 400 grams of dough. We roll it out with a rolling pin.
- We shift the dough onto a baking sheet. We pierce the dough with a fork so that it does not swell during baking in the oven.
- Send the dough into the oven and bake at a temperature of 180-200 degrees to a golden hue.
- We take the cake from the oven and leave to cool. Take another slice of dough, roll it well on a work surface, sprinkled with flour. We lay out the next rolled cake on a baking sheet. It is important that both cakes are the same size and fit the size of your baking sheet. We don’t pierce the second cake with a fork, but for it we form higher sides.
- We spread the filling prepared earlier on the cake. Visually divide this filling into two parts and put one part on raw cake. Distribute nuts with spices and sugar evenly. At the edges we leave a little space.
- On top of the nuts, lay out the pre-cooked cake and press it a little with your hands. On top of the finished cake lay out the second part of the filling and distribute over the entire surface.
- Roll out the last layer of dough, after adding a little flour.
- We lay out rolled dough on top of those two layers that we collected earlier. Carefully connect the bottom layer to the top, covering the middle layer.
- We cut rhombuses with a knife, for this, first, strips are cut with a light movement of the knife. Of them, using a ruler or on the eye, we make oblique lines to make rhombuses.
- We make a mixture of yolk and milk (or water). Lubricate the dough on top with this mixture. We decorate baklava with walnuts at will.
- We send the baklava to the preheated oven. Bake at a temperature of 180 degrees. While baking is preparing, prepare sugar syrup. Boil water when it boils, add sugar syrup. Stir the sugar until it is completely dissolved.
- When sugar syrup boils, remove it from the stove and add honey. Stir well to dissolve it.
- After readiness, after about 30 minutes we take the baklava from the oven. Pour the hot baklava with sugar syrup when the honey in it is completely dissolved. Abundantly water the baklava and let the syrup soak for 5-10 minutes. If necessary, add more syrup.
- Baklava is ready! You can serve it to the table! Enjoy your meal!
