In appearance, the lazy potato dumplings, the recipe of which we offer in this article, resemble simply boiled pieces of dough. There is no filling in them, all the ingredients are mixed in the dough. This leaves room for creativity: you can always add to the potato those products that you love. The main thing is to understand the principle of cooking.
Basic step by step recipe with potatoes
We offer you the simplest, classic recipe for lazy dumplings with potato ka kna photo.

Is it possible to freeze dumplings? Can! You can slightly modify the recipe and make dumplings with potatoes and mushrooms. To do this, just chop and fry your favorite mushrooms and knead them with potatoes in the dough. If you have left the fried mushrooms in pieces, for example, after yesterday's dinner, you can skip them through a meat grinder.
Potato lazy dumplings are especially tasty and savory with fried onions. Cut two or three large onions into rings or half rings, fry in a preheated pan until crunchy. Do not drain the oil - it is them who, along with crispy onions, pour each serving.

With cottage cheese
A great way to use the remains of mashed potatoes is to make sloths with potatoes and cottage cheese. Dumplings will turn out to be more dietary and healthy, and children will not refuse cottage cheese in this form.
You will need:
- mashed potatoes - 200 g;
- cottage cheese - 200 g;
- flour - 100 g;
- eggs - 2 pieces;
- potato starch - 50 g;
- onions - 1 head;
- salt to taste.
Cooking
- Separate the whites from the yolks.
- Mix mashed potatoes with yolks, then add cottage cheese, flour, starch and salt.
- Beat the whites with a mixer until foam and add them to the potato-curd mass. Knead the dough, adding flour if necessary.
- Make several tows from the dough, cut them into pieces and sprinkle with flour.
- Boil in a large amount of salted water. The approximate cooking time is 5-6 minutes.
Sometimes it makes sense to do a lot of dough at once, since you can cook lazy dumplings with potatoes for the future. Like any other dumplings, they feel great in the freezer. The main thing is that they do not stick together when frozen. You can freeze them portionwise - that is, one board at a time, and then stack the already well-frozen semi-finished products in a bag. You can also lay them in layers in containers, overlaying each layer with parchment. For successful freezing, dumplings must be well sprinkled with flour!
With cheese
High-quality cheese will not spoil a single dish, and “sloths” are no exception. For the recipe described below, you need hard cheese like parmesan or pecorino. On the shelves of supermarkets now you can find more or less suitable domestic analogues of these products.
You will need:
- hard cheese - 300 g;
- egg −2 pieces;
- flour - 100 g;
- dill - a small bunch;
- salt - 5 g.
Cooking
- Grate the cheese on a fine grater, cut the dill as finely as possible.
- Mix cheese, herbs, flour and eggs, salt and knead in the dough. Add water if necessary.
- Form harnesses, cut them into pieces about 2.5 cm long.
- Boil in salted water.
As a piquant addition to cheese dumplings, you can cook the frying from breading. To do this, finely crush a couple of pieces of white bread with your hands (crumbs can also be made in a blender) and fry this “sprinkle” in vegetable oil.
Creative ideas
A few ideas for housewives who found the dish boring.
- Experiment with the form! Sausage cut into pieces is, of course, the easiest and fastest option. However, if you want, you can do so: roll the dough into a rather thick layer, about 5 mm, cut into circles with a glass. Dumplings will look like coins. A cookie cutter can also come in handy here.
- Experiment with color! Lazy dumplings, can be colored. Adding beet, tomato or carrot juice to the dough, chopped spinach in a blender, you can get lazy dumplings with red, orange or green potatoes. Children and vegetable lovers will appreciate!
- Experiment with the composition! Stir in lard if you like it. Men will enjoy the supplement in the form of chopped and fried bacon. Put in the stale pieces of sausage. Throw a pinch of chopped herbs or your favorite spices directly into the dough.
All this will give lazy dumplings a new “sound”, although, of course, with this approach the idea itself is lost to cook the dish quickly and easily. But even if you still choose simple potato “sloths,” your dinner or breakfast will be impeccable!
