Kitchen appliances and utensils: deep bowl, mixer or hand blender, spoon, slow cooker or baking dish and oven.
Ingredients
Flour | 750 g |
Kefir | 640 g |
Sugar | 1 stack |
Baking powder | 1 tbsp. l |
Soda | 1 tsp |
Raisins | 150 g |
Poppy | 25 g |
Vegetable oil | 50 g |
Powdered sugar | 150 g |
Corn starch | 40 g |
Lemon juice | 1 tsp |
Confectionery powder (for decoration) | 80 g |
Step cooking
- Rinse the raisins to remove all possible debris from it. Fill with warm water and leave to swell for 10-15 minutes. Then we drain the water, put the raisins on a paper towel, let it dry. After that, we send it to convenient dishes and pour with flour. Thanks to the flour, raisins are evenly distributed throughout the dough. Buy seedless raisins to make ready-made pastries convenient to eat.
- Pour 600 g of kefir into a separate bowl. Kefir is not very fresh, it can be a little sour. Add one teaspoon of soda to kefir, mix and leave for several minutes so that kefiric acid reacts with soda.
- Sift 750 g of flour into a separate bowl, add one glass of sugar and one tablespoon of baking powder, mix well. If you wish, you can add more sugar if you want to get more sweet pastries.
- Add the raisins and 25 g of poppy to the flour, mix. Add the kefir already infused with soda, knead the dough. It turns out to be thick, but not dense, but soft and elastic.
- The dough is ready, you can distribute by form. We will use paper, shop forms that have the same height and diameter of 9 cm. Inside each form, grease with vegetable oil and spread the dough, filling ¾ of the form. We leave a little space, because the cake will rise during baking.
- We send in the oven preheated to 180 degrees for 50 minutes. But the baking time depends on the oven of each hostess. After 40 minutes you can use the toothpick to check the cakes for readiness. We simply pierce them with a toothpick: if the dough does not stick to it, then the baking is ready.
- While the cakes are baking, we can prepare the icing. In a convenient dish we mix 150 g of powdered sugar and 40 g of corn starch. Add 40 g of kefir and mix thoroughly. Then add one teaspoon of lemon juice, mix the icing for 3 minutes. Sugar for glaze can be used white or brown, its color will depend on this. Our glaze turned caramel due to the fact that we used brown sugar.
- We take out the finished cakes from the oven, let it cool slightly and dip in the icing. Sprinkle on top with confectionery powder or any other decorations at your discretion.
