Ingredients

Product amount
Puff pastry (yeast) 500 g
Flour 25-30 g
Chocolate 100 g or 1 tile
Salt 0.5 tsp
Egg 1 PC.

Step cooking

Puff pastry can be prepared at home, but this process is quite laborious and lengthy. The dough, which is sold in stores, is not inferior to homemade. Before starting work with the dough, it must be thawed at room temperature. Remove it in advance from the freezer. Most often, this process takes an hour and a half, but check the information on the test packaging that you bought. From this stage depends on how air croissants will turn out.
  1. When the dough unfreezes, you can start working with it. Put one sheet of dough on a table or on a kitchen board sprinkled with a small amount of flour (25-30 g). It will not let the dough stick to the surface, and thanks to this, you can easily turn it over.
Place thawed puff pastry on a flour dusted surface.
  2. Roll the dough a little on both sides using a rolling pin.
Roll the dough lightly with a rolling pin.
  3. Cut the dough into equal triangular pieces, as shown in the photo.

  4. Break a bar of chocolate into pieces. Place a piece of chocolate on the base of each triangle.
Put a piece of chocolate on the wide part of each triangle.
  5. Wrap the chocolate in the dough to form a croissant.
Wrap the dough with a roll.
  6. Turn on the oven. It needs to be heated to 180 degrees. Cover the baking tray with parchment or use a special silicone mat.
Cover the baking dish with parchment.
  7. Put croissants on a baking sheet. Make sure that between them there is a distance of 2-3 centimeters, since when baking they will increase in size. Let the croissants come up a bit, leaving them out for 20-30 minutes in a warm place. Do not skip this step, because if you do not follow it, then bagels can lose their shape when baking.
Put the croissants in shape and let them stand for about 30 minutes and rise a little.
  8. When they come, break one egg, separating the yolk from the protein (you need a yolk).
Separate the yolk from the protein.
  9. Add half a teaspoon of salt to the yolk and whisk it.
Beat yellow with a fork with a pinch of salt.
  10. Using a silicone brush, coat each croissant on top with yolk. This will help to get a beautiful golden crust on your pastries.
Whisk the croissants with whipped yolk.
  11. Send the croissants to the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes (depending on your oven). Turn off the oven when the croissants are golden crusted. Allow them to cool completely to room temperature.
Everyone can make such delicious puff pastry croissants with chocolate.
Did you know? Croissants are considered traditional French pastries. The first air buns began to be sold in one of the Parisian pastry shops in 1839. But now it is unlikely that there will be at least one coffee house in the world where such bagels with various fillings are not served: from sweet to salty.

Decoration methods and presentation options

Although ready-made croissants already look appetizing, if desired, they can be decorated with chocolate. Here are some decoration options:

  • Melt the chocolate in the microwave or in the steam bath. Using a spoon, pour them every bagel.
  • You can also sprinkle them with finely chopped nuts on top until the chocolate has frozen.
  • Or you can just sprinkle croissants with grated or chopped chocolate.

Traditionally, croissants are served for breakfast with coffee (for children, coffee can be replaced with cocoa).
