Kitchen appliances and utensils:
- oven;
- a baking sheet;
- silicone baking mat / parchment;
- measuring cup / scales;
- cutting board;
- rolling pin;
- tea spoon;
- tablespoon;
- fork;
- knife;
- silicone spatula for baking;
- two small deep plates;
- serving plate.
Ingredients
Product | amount |
Puff pastry (yeast) | 500 g |
Flour | 25-30 g |
Chocolate | 100 g or 1 tile |
Salt | 0.5 tsp |
Egg | 1 PC. |
Step cooking
- When the dough unfreezes, you can start working with it. Put one sheet of dough on a table or on a kitchen board sprinkled with a small amount of flour (25-30 g). It will not let the dough stick to the surface, and thanks to this, you can easily turn it over.
- Roll the dough a little on both sides using a rolling pin.
- Cut the dough into equal triangular pieces, as shown in the photo.
- Break a bar of chocolate into pieces. Place a piece of chocolate on the base of each triangle.
- Wrap the chocolate in the dough to form a croissant.
- Turn on the oven. It needs to be heated to 180 degrees. Cover the baking tray with parchment or use a special silicone mat.
- Put croissants on a baking sheet. Make sure that between them there is a distance of 2-3 centimeters, since when baking they will increase in size. Let the croissants come up a bit, leaving them out for 20-30 minutes in a warm place. Do not skip this step, because if you do not follow it, then bagels can lose their shape when baking.
- When they come, break one egg, separating the yolk from the protein (you need a yolk).
- Add half a teaspoon of salt to the yolk and whisk it.
- Using a silicone brush, coat each croissant on top with yolk. This will help to get a beautiful golden crust on your pastries.
- Send the croissants to the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes (depending on your oven). Turn off the oven when the croissants are golden crusted. Allow them to cool completely to room temperature.
Decoration methods and presentation options
Although ready-made croissants already look appetizing, if desired, they can be decorated with chocolate. Here are some decoration options:
- Melt the chocolate in the microwave or in the steam bath. Using a spoon, pour them every bagel.
- You can also sprinkle them with finely chopped nuts on top until the chocolate has frozen.
- Or you can just sprinkle croissants with grated or chopped chocolate.
Traditionally, croissants are served for breakfast with coffee (for children, coffee can be replaced with cocoa).
