Step cooking
- We wash three medium-sized potatoes in running water, peel them and set them to boil in a small amount of water. While potatoes are being cooked, we are engaged in the preparation of fish. For this dish we need about 300 grams of chum salmon fillet. If you bought a fish with a half-carcass, then first you need to wash it, clean it from scales, remove the bones and cut into portioned pieces.
- Peel the onion and cut into rings.
- We cut the boiled potatoes into rings.
- We wash the tomatoes in water, remove the seals from the tails and also cut into rings.
- We take a beautiful ceramic dish with small sides, in which the fish will not only be baked, but also served on the table. We spread a layer of potato rings on it.
- On top of the potatoes we lay a layer of fish, not sparing, sprinkle it with salt and pepper (this is already for an amateur - more or less - orient yourself to your taste).
- Next, “dress” the fish in a “fur coat”: divide the onion into separate rings and put them on a layer of fish.
- The final layer is the tomatoes.
- Then 150 grams of sour cream are evenly distributed with a spoon over the entire surface of the dish, carefully, trying not to violate the integrity of the composition.
- Preheat the oven to a temperature of 190 degrees and send the dish into it to bake for 15-20 minutes. After the specified time, we take out the dish, but do not turn on the oven, we still need it. We rub 150 grams of hard or semi-hard cheese and cover it with a dish, creating the final layer of a “fur coat”.
- We send it back to the oven and wait until the cheese is melted and turns into a delicious golden crust. It will take him 3-5 minutes. We serve the finished dish on the table hot, decorating with sprigs of greens and lemon slices.

Before preparing any, even the simplest dish, it is always interesting to spy on the actions of the person who cooks it not for the first time - to catch all the nuances, but at the same time to see what result awaits us.
This dish may well serve as a delicious appetizer that complements the festive table, and a full nutritious breakfast or dinner, since the vegetable “coat” is a side dish to the fish component.
If you did not find a chum in the house, then it is quite possible to replace it with any other simpler fish, which is usually always found in the refrigerator of a thrifty housewife, for example, pollock, hake, pangasius.
Even the dry meat of the fish in this dish does not seem so, because when baked under a vegetable pillow with sour cream gravy, it will certainly be saturated with their juice.
