Kitchen appliances and utensils: kettle, a set of containers of different depths, a teaspoon, a knife, cups
Ingredients
Tiled Green Tea | 1.5 tbsp. l |
Milk | 500 ml |
Water | 1,5 l |
Pink Himalayan Salt | 1 tsp |
Nutmeg | 1 pinch |
Butter | 40-50 g |
Step cooking
For the recipe, we need a special tiled green tea. If you use ordinary leafy, the taste will not be as original as that laid down in the recipe.
- Using a knife, we separate a piece of 1.5 tbsp from the tea tile. l We put it in a small bowl, fill it with water and leave it under the lid so that it swells.
- Pour 1.5 liters of water into a deep kettle and set on fire. As soon as the water heats up, but has not yet boiled, we add tea to it, mix it so that it disperses, and close the lid.
- On low heat, let the tea brew a little (the water should acquire a characteristic color), after which we add 1 tsp. Himalayan pink salt and 1 pinch of nutmeg, then mix. You can take ordinary table salt, but the taste can change.
- After another 1-2 minutes, add 40-50 g of butter to tea. It should be at room temperature, so as not to create differences inside the drink. Stir until the oil is completely dissolved.
- Pour 450-500 ml of milk into a thin stream and mix. Tea should completely become uniform and white. Any milk is suitable: cow, goat, sheep, mare, camel. Keep in mind that nomads most often used just the last two species.
- After adding milk, bring the tea to a boil and cook for 4-5 minutes, then turn off the heat, close the kettle with a lid and let the drink brew for 10-15 minutes.
Kalmyk tea can be served with feta cheese or any salty cheese, pastries or even on an empty stomach, since the drink is very nutritious due to milk and butter.
Did you know? As additional spices, black and allspice peas and bay leaves can be added to tea. Instead of butter, nomads added mutton fat, so if you like experimenting, you can try it.
