Step cooking
- Wash and peel 7-8 root beets of red beets. Take medium-sized vegetables, equal in weight.
- Cut the beets in half, transfer to a deep bowl. So that when working with beets you don’t have your hands painted red, put on cooking gloves or grease your hands with olive or any other vegetable oil. Pour 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar and table salt into a deep plate. Add 1 teaspoon with a slide of dry thyme herb. Pour 1 teaspoon of ground fenugreek seeds (shambhala) and chopped coriander into the mixture. Mix all components well until evenly distributed. The taste and aroma of fenugreek and thyme go well with the sweet taste of beet pulp. Coriander seeds give a spicy touch. If you do not have the herbs listed in the recipe, take the other herbal seasonings you love. Pour dry dressing into a bowl with chopped beets. Hands thoroughly mix all the slices of vegetables, trying to ensure that each slice is covered with a dry mixture of seasonings, spices and salt with sugar.
- Pour 30-40 ml of olive oil onto the beets. Instead of olive, you can take any other vegetable oil (sunflower, linseed, corn, etc.). Mix the slices of vegetables with your hands so that each of them is covered with an oil film. The oil coating keeps the juice inside the root crops, which makes them more juicy and tasty. Place a sheet of cooking foil on a baking sheet or baking dish. Spread the halves of vegetables with the convex side up on the foil at a distance of one piece from the other (2-3 cm).
- Bake for 1 hour in an oven heated to 200 ° C. Ready beets are easily pierced with a fork or the tip of a knife.
Cooked vegetables are used as a side dish for meat and fish. Beets baked according to this recipe are suitable as an ingredient for vinaigrette, salads, appetizers, for borsch or beetroot.
