Beet | 4 things. |
Step cooking
- First, beets must be washed well with a brush to remove adhering soil and other impurities. Beets need to be selected about the same size so that all vegetables are cooked at the same time. Beets should be dark red, elastic and dense. Then it should be dried with a paper towel to get rid of excess water. In order for beets to retain all their healthy juices, beets should be selected without any damage. With a knife, cut off all the tails and tops, but not very short.
- Baking beets in foil is a very simple and convenient way that does not require special culinary skills. In this form, beets to the maximum retain all their useful vitamins and will not lose their volume, as if baked without foil. Each beet is tightly wrapped individually in foil. It is not necessary to salt the beets, since salt will not pass through the skin anyway. To give additional taste, you can sprinkle each beet with black ground pepper or any dried herbs. You can lubricate the root vegetable with a little vegetable or olive oil to prevent it from burning to the foil.
- We spread the wrapped beets in a baking dish or on a baking sheet and put in a preheated oven to 180 degrees for 40 minutes. Depending on the size of the vegetables, the baking time may be different: large root vegetables take longer to cook, and small ones - faster. The younger the beets, the less time it will take to bake, and vice versa.
- We check the readiness of the beets as follows: take out one beet and pierce through the foil with a fork or a toothpick. If the beets are soft, then the vegetable is ready, you can take out the remaining root crops. If the beets are solid, then we send it for some time to the oven. When the beets are almost ready, you can turn off the oven and leave it there to cool completely, in a slowly cooling oven the beets will reach full readiness.
- We take out the finished beets from the oven, cool, clean and use as intended. It is perfect for preparing different dishes, and if you cut it into thin slices and pour it with sauce, it will perfectly serve as an independent dish. Ready beets are well stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.
