First you need to rinse the Japanese quince under running water. Approximately 1 kg of fresh Japanese quince is required. After washing, it is very important that no raw water is left on the fruits. To do this, each quince must be thoroughly wiped with a paper towel or an ordinary dry cloth.
- Since the Japanese quince has a large seed chamber and there are many seeds, it is not recommended to cut it like apples. It is worth cutting each fruit not along, but across. To do this, use a sharp kitchen knife. After that, the seeds can simply be shaken out or removed with a knife. This is easy to do because the seed chamber is very soft. Thus we prepare a whole kilogram of Japanese quince.
- Prepared and cut into 2 halves, the fruits of Japanese quince are cut into thin slices into a deep bowl. The thickness of the slices should be no more than 2-3 mm. If desired, you can grate Japanese quince on a coarse grater, but then it will turn out less tasty, although equally useful.
- When the Japanese quince is prepared and chopped, we prepare a glass liter jar. It does not have to be sterilized, but it must be clean. In the jar, we first lay out a little sliced Japanese quince, then a little sugar. The latter will need as much as the Japanese quince itself - 1 kg. So layer by layer we put the whole quince with sugar in a jar until it is completely filled.
- Japanese quince mixed with sugar gives off a lot of healthy juice. After filling the entire can, close it with a nylon or metal lid. Japanese quince prepared in this way should be stored in the refrigerator, where it can stand for several months, or even all winter. The product is very healthy and can be added to tea instead of lemon.
