Kitchen appliances and utensils
- 2 liter glass jars with tight nylon caps;
- kitchen scales and other measuring accessories;
- cutting board;
- sharp knife;
- hard washcloth;
- gauze fabric;
- paper towels.
Ingredients
- horseradish - 100 g
- ginger - 30 g
- lemon - 1 pc.
- liquid honey - 80 g
- cloves - 3 buds
- ground nutmeg - 3 g
- ground cinnamon - 5 g
- vanillin - 1 g
- vodka or alcohol (strength 45-50%) - 2 l
Step cooking
- First of all, peel 100 g of fresh horseradish and 30 g of fresh ginger.
- Thoroughly rinse both components with running cold water, and then cut the horseradish in fairly large circles, and ginger in thin strips.
- We wash the medium-sized lemon thoroughly with water using a hard washcloth, and then wipe it dry with a paper towel. With a sharp knife, cut the zest, trying not to touch the white flesh, which will give the future alcohol too strong bitterness.
- We thoroughly rinse two glass liter jars with water and allow them to dry naturally. In each container we send 50 g of horseradish, 15 g of ginger, 40 g of liquid honey and half chopped lemon zest.
- In a jar, in which we will prepare horseradish without spices, pour 1 liter of vodka.
- We seal the container with a tight nylon cap and thoroughly shake the components, trying to dissolve the honey in alcohol as much as possible.
- Add spices to another container: 3 g of ground nutmeg, 3 buds of cloves, 1 g of vanillin, 5 g of ground cinnamon.
- Pour 1 liter of alcohol there and mix everything thoroughly.
- We send both types of horseradish to a warm place hidden from the sun where we insist on the product for 4 days. During tincture, shake the contents of both cans well every day.
- After the specified period, we filter both versions of the alcohol through a homemade gauze filter.
- We return the filtered horseradish to its former dark place, where we allow it to "rest" for 3-4 days.
- After this time, we begin to taste our own creations.
