Step cooking
- Prepare the mackerel: thaw 2 fish, wash and dry with paper towels, cut off the head, tail and fins, open the belly and remove the entrails. Pay particular attention to removing the black film inside the abdomen. It is easily removed with a paper towel.
- Salt the prepared fish, pepper and sprinkle with a universal fish seasoning to your taste inside and out from all sides.
- Cut a quarter of the lemon and sprinkle the fish inside and out with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Put the mackerel in the refrigerator for 30 minutes for pickling.
- Peel the onion (1 piece) and cut into not very thin rings.
- Cut four whole rings from a lemon.
- Put the pickled mackerel on the food foil. Put each fish separately.
- In the abdomen of each fish, put 2 rings of lemon and 4-5 rings of onion.
- Wrap each fish well in food foil so that the juice does not leak when baking. Place the mackerel wrapped in foil on a baking sheet and bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 40 minutes.
- After 40 minutes, the mackerel baked in the oven in foil is ready.
Decoration methods and serving options
Mackerel baked in the oven in foil can be served hot and cold. Line the dish with lettuce leaves or decorate the edges with mugs of fresh cucumbers. Gently transfer the mackerel from the foil to the dish. Garnish the fish with sprigs of fresh herbs, slices of olives and slices of lemon or lime.
Serve potatoes as a side dish: boiled, mashed, fried or baked in large pieces. Sauce can also be served with fish. Creamy garlic sauce, Polish, lemon and others are good.
