The content of the article
Most diseases are accompanied by inflammatory changes in the tissues, pain of varying severity, or fever. That is why non-steroidal drugs have found such widespread use in medical practice. Especially often they are prescribed for pathologies of the musculoskeletal system: diseases of the joints, spine, myalgia.
How does the remedy work?
The mechanism of action of the drug "Nise" is its ability to selectively affect the synthesis of molecules that provoke inflammation. This is due to the suppression of the activity of cyclooxygenase, an enzyme involved in the implementation of the inflammatory reaction.
"Nise" (or rather, its main active ingredient nimesulide) is able to block the "inflammatory" isoform of cyclooxygenase - its second type. Moreover, this medicine has virtually no effect on the “physiological” cyclooxygenase of the first type. This explains the absence of a number of side effects associated with NSAIDs in this drug, which block both isoforms of cyclooxygenases. So, nimesulide relatively rarely provokes any changes in the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract.
The second important advantage of Nise is the chemical structure of its main component. It is “non-acidic,” and therefore does not irritate the walls of the digestive tract. That is why nimesulide has good tolerance and can be used in various groups of patients.
Thus, this medicine has a complex therapeutic effect:
- reduces the severity of pain;
- blocks the inflammatory process;
- lowers fever.
In addition, other effects of nimesulide have been established in medical studies:
- antihistamine effect - therefore, it can be taken by patients suffering from aspirin asthma or allergies to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
- antioxidant activity - the drug reduces the amount of free radicals;
- the role of the "protector" of the joints - “Nise” stimulates collagen synthesis of cartilaginous tissue, reduces the degranulation of structural molecules (proteoglycans) in the connective tissue of joints.
Nimesulide has a complex effect in the area of inflammation, which allows it to be used for many different pathologies. After ingestion, "Nise" begins to act after 15-20 minutes. That is, the pain syndrome is quickly eliminated, and in the presence of joint pathologies, the range of movements in them is restored. With rheumatoid arthritis, swelling and stiffness in small joints in the morning are also reduced.
Forms of medicine
This pharmaceutical product is produced by the manufacturer in several dosage forms:
- suspension;
- pills;
- gel;
- water soluble tablets.
Suspension with nimesulide is designed to treat children older than two years. 5 ml of Nise suspension contains 0.05 g of the main active ingredient. Also, stabilizers, sucrose, flavoring, citric acid are added to the medicine by the manufacturer.
“Nise” in the form of tablets contains 0.1 g of the main active ingredient. The dispersible form of the drug contains 0.05 g of nimesulide, in addition, the composition of the drug includes excipients: compounds of calcium, magnesium, silicon, aspartame, flavoring.
The content of nimesulide in 1 g of the Naiza gel form is equal to 0.01 g. Also in the composition are fillers, flavoring and stabilizers.
In what cases is recommended
Indications for the use of "Nise" are the following conditions:
- rheumatoid lesions of the joints - as well as other “systemic” joint lesions (systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriasis);
- vertebral pathology - especially with radicular symptom complex (sciatica, lumbago, cervical or lumbar osteochondrosis, with hernia of the spine);
- arthritis and bursitis of various nature - including gout, osteoarthrosis, damage to the ligamentous apparatus;
- muscle inflammation - myositis, myalgia.
Also, the Nise pain medication can be used in the following conditions:
- from toothache;
- with a headache;
- with painful periods;
- from ear pain;
- with hemorrhoids;
- after surgery.
However, when stopping pain, it should be remembered that thereby the pathological process is not eliminated. If the pain persists for several days, then a doctor’s consultation is necessary.
Instructions for use "Nise"
Usually, Nise tablets are prescribed in a dosage of 0.1 g twice a day. The maximum allowable daily dose for adults is 0.4 g. Tablets taken before meals are better absorbed, but there is always a risk of their irritating effect on the walls of the stomach. Therefore, according to most experts, it is right to drink "Nise" immediately after eating or with food.
Gel
It is applied only to clean and dry skin. Also, at the place of application there should not be abrasions, scratches or skin diseases (eczema, dermatitis). From the tube squeeze a strip of gel 2-3 cm long, which is then applied to the desired area. Evenly distribute the drug, but do not massage and do not rub. This procedure must be repeated up to four times a day.
How to give to children
The choice of the pharmaceutical form of the drug depends on the age of the child. You can focus on the following table.
Table - “Nise” release forms for children of different ages
Age | Pharmaceutical form |
---|---|
2-3 years | Suspension |
3-12 years old | - Dispersible tablets; - suspension |
> 12 years | Pills |
The dosage of the suspension or Nise tablets for children is calculated based on body weight: 3-4 mg per 1 kg of body weight. The resulting dose is divided into two to three doses per day.
What could be the negative effects
According to doctors, Nise is well tolerated and rarely causes any side effects. Occasionally, the following side effects may occur:

- impaired liver function - an increase in transaminases;
- neurological disorders - headaches, vestibular disorders;
- allergic reactions - urticaria, bronchospasm, Quincke's edema.
Adverse reactions after application of the gel with nimesulide are the local appearance of a rash, hyperemia, itching, peeling. Systemic allergic reactions in this case are rare.
When taking a large number of tablets or Nise suspensions, overdose symptoms may occur:
- exacerbation of gastrointestinal pathologies;
