The content of the article
Genital candidiasis, or thrushcaused by fungi of the genus Candida. They are attributed to the conditionally pathogenic flora of the mucous membranes; they are found in smears of healthy women. However, in the presence of certain pathogenic factors, fungi begin to multiply intensively. The main provocateurs of the occurrence of thrush in women are:
- taking antibacterial drugs of systemic action;
- endocrine diseases (diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism);
- intestinal dysbiosis;
- poor nutrition, hypovitaminosis;
- weakening of immunity due to diseases, taking medications;
- local use of antiseptics, cosmetics;
- pathology of the reproductive system (myomainfection).
Such manifestations of thrush, such as itching, cheesy discharge and discomfort during sexual intercourse, significantly worsen the patient's quality of life and can adversely affect relations with a partner. If you need a way to get rid of thrush - acute, chronic, or relapsing - many women choose Diflucan.
What is the drug
The main task of the gynecologist is the choice of an effective drug that has an effect as soon as possible. "Diflucan", the active substance of which is fluconazole, will quickly eliminate the symptoms of candidiasis and at the same time has a high degree of safety. Capsules contain 50 or 150 mg of the active ingredient. The price of the drug in pharmacies is usually low.
Diflucan is produced by the famous American company Pfizer. He has long established himself in the pharmaceutical market as a medicine with clinically proven efficacy. The main active ingredient, fluconazole, in its composition belongs to the antifungal pharmaceuticals of the triazole group.
The mechanism of action of Diflucan is a violation of the synthesis of sterols in the cell wall of the fungus. Moreover, it acts strictly selectively on the sterol compounds of the pathogen. In the conducted studies, no effect of fluconazole on the synthesis of sterols in the human body was found.
Fluconazole is effective against the following species of fungi of the genus Candida:
- Candida Albicans;
- Candida Tropicalis;
- Candida Glabrata;
- Candida parapsilosis.
Also in medical experiments, it was found that this drug is effective in cryptococcosis, microsporosis, trichophytosis, histoplasmosis and other fungal infections.
Release Forms
A pharmaceutical company produces a medicine both for oral administration (oral administration) and for administration directly into the human body, i.e. parenterally. The following forms of Diflucan are on sale.

Diflucan candles for women are not available. However, in pharmacies there are other antifungal drugs in the form of suppositories or ointments.
After taking capsules or suspensions, the active substance is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. It is best to take the medicine in between meals, in which case it is more rapidly absorbed. The maximum therapeutic concentration of fluconazole in the blood is determined after an hour and a half.
This drug is very well distributed practically in all tissues of the human body. However, its greatest content is detected in the skin and mucous membranes.
